Opened in 1954 and designed by Morris Lapidus, it was the most luxurious hotel on Miami Beach, and is thought to be the most significant building of Lapidus' career.

Responsibilities

Responsible to maintain, repair, replace, or construct interior and exterior structures and fixtures made of wood.

 
Examples of Duties, includes but is not limited to the following: 
  1. Maintain and repair doors, furniture, hardware, and windows.
  2. Hang artwork and headboards.
  3. Visually inspect, diagnose problems, take measurements, and make necessary adjustments.
  4. Perform shop work to build furniture, cabinets, and shelving units and fabricate furniture parts for repairs.
  5. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and use of hand/power tools such as table saw, drill press, band saw, and electric planner and router.
  • Knowledge and use of all techniques for the trade to include knowledge of products, lumber (grade and type), hardware, and other supplies and knowledge of local building codes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff. 
  • Minimum of two years experience in carpentry, wood working, cabinet making, and blueprint reading preferred.

  • Technical school certificate or trade license preferred.
